Kevin George Knipfing, known by his stage name Kevin James, is an American actor, comedian and producer. He is best known for playing Doug Heffernan on the hit CBS sitcom The King of Queens (1998–2007). He is also known for his roles in comedy films including Hitch with Will Smith (2005), Grown Ups (2010), Zookeeper (2011), here Comes the Boom (2012) and Pixels (2015).
He has found tremendous success as an actor with the large build and became an icon for many many big and tall man . Most of the time Kevin plays the role of the loveable big guy in movies or TV and his laid back attitude is why most of big man can relate to him. After High School he continued his football career at SUNY Cortland college, where he majored in sports management. During a semester break he auditioned for a comedic part in a Shoreham-Wading River Community Theater production. His performance was a success and was selected for the role. It was at this stage that he realised his passion for comedy and decided to leave college, in order to focus on his career as comedian. He started to perform regularly as stand up comedian in 1989 at Long Island's now-defunct East Side Comedy Club. James spent roughly 10 years refining and perfecting his act, and eventually transitioned to performing at venues in nearby New York City.
His first big break through on TV screens was on the King of Queens. Playing the role of Doug is an "Average Joe" blue-collar worker at IPS. Some of his more negative personality traits would be laziness, greediness, childish behaviour and desire to do as little work as possible around the house but he is mostly easy-going and caring, especially while trying to get people to like him.
